Kappa Kappa Psi
National Honorary Fraternity for College Band Members
Founded at Oklahoma State University on November 27, 1919, Kappa Kappa Psi operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition group whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that is required of their band. Our goals are to provide the band not only with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contracts. The honorary nature of membership is based on our premise that “it is an honor to be selected to serve” this band, its school of music, its sponsoring institution, and the cause of band music in the nation’s colleges and universities.

Our Chapter
The Xi Beta chapter was founded at the University of North Texas on April 29, 2021 by sixteen devoted students under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Cook. Though our chapter was only established a short time ago, we have already grown immensely in size and impact on the musical community around us, and cannot wait to see how much more we achieve in the future!

Leadership
Through leadership, Xi Beta is determined to better not only our chapter, but the UNT community as a whole, stepping up as leaders to better the North Texas Green Brigade marching band, the Wind Studies department, and other organizations across campus and throughout our lives.
Musicianship
Xi Beta prides itself in striving for the highest in all endeavors, especially those of the musical nature, believing that music carries a great impact. Our chapter is always aiming to better ourselves as musicians and performers, and in turn, furthering the impact music has on our community and the world.
Brotherhood
Xi Beta, and Kappa Kappa Psi as a national organization, fosters the formation of lifelong friendships and professional connections through numerous social and service events each year at both the chapter and national levels, creating a network based on shared values, interests, and goals.
Service
Xi Beta is dedicated to serving the UNT College of Music, working to support the Wind Studies Department and Green Brigade in all their various endeavors, while also giving back to the musical community at large, both on campus and in the surrounding areas.
